I don't know if they and the Uptown Young Patriots were rivals, though. Weren't the weathermen middle- and upper-class university students? The Uptown guys (the ones featured in the movie) were definitely workers, not students. So they wouldn't be quite rivals, I guess. Maybe you and I should watch those 2 documentaries back-to-back and figure it out.

Re: karaoke, smartass :-). That's not the same kind of performing as the art of songwriting-and-performing. Impossible to compare. All I know is that when I sing karaoke I don't sing _on top_ of, say, David Bowie's voice, I butcher "Absolute Beginners" all by my-damn-self!Snezana Zabichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14238065197521253289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4078106021837498735.post-40381707571436769922008-05-30T15:19:00.000-07:002008-05-30T15:19:00.000-07:00Hey chica, there's a documentary called The Weathe...Hey chica, there's a documentary called The Weatherman about..well...the weatherman (I'm so eloquent). Anyhoo, the Black Panthers spurned their version of working-class revolution. I wonder if the Uptown Young Patriots and the Weatherman were rival working class coalitions. I can't find anything about that through google though.

Also, does karaoke count as cheating too????? Or does it have to be one's own pre-recorded vocals?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4078106021837498735.post-37258138222874753522008-05-29T01:35:00.000-07:002008-05-29T01:35:00.000-07:00I must clarify. Those who were rapping on top of pre-recorded vocals shall remain unnamed, in hopes they'll give up that habit that I (a.k.a. Sneza the purist a.k.a. that old man the critic from the Muppets) am not in favor of b/c it is cheating.Snezana Zabichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14238065197521253289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4078106021837498735.post-89373929272826476122008-05-28T23:15:00.000-07:002008-05-28T23:15:00.000-07:00Ahhh Cafe Mestizo...
